After the start of the Phoenix FD beta program numerous comments and questions have been sent to us and posted on different forums and online communities on this topic. To all of you interested in the new fluid dynamics system Phoenix FD we would like to clearly state that Phoenix FD is a completely new product based on a completely different development approach of the previous Chaos Group product called Aura.

Phoenix Fluid Dynamics Product Description

Phoenix Fluid Dynamics is a new development, which perfectly combines a grid base simulator with with an outstanding rendering capabilities. Besides the usual uniform fluid behavior, Phoenix simulates some additional processes, like pressure decay, thermal radiation cooling , and mass-temperature dependence. This product promises a lot in terms of simulation times and quality of final production and will become a complete solution for simulation of fire, smoke, and haze because of your contribution to the Phoenix beta program.

Become a beta tester and be among the first to experience the capabilities and great features Phoenix has to offer you. Exceptional and unique features are available for the V-Ray for 3ds Max users.

Phoenix Fluid Dynamics Beta Program

Time Frame and Stages

The Phoenix beta program will run for a period of 3 months, starting on the 20th of March 2010. Only approved candidates will be able to gain download access. The software license will be obtained under the condition that all materials produced with it will not be available for commercial use. On a further stage, under the special consideration of the Developers of the product this limitation can be obviated.


Beta Testers Evaluation Requirements

Everyone who would like to participate in the Phoenix Fluid Dynamics Beta program should meet the requirement to reveal his/her own name, company name, position and contact information. The person applying for beta tester has to fill out this personal information as well as short questionnaire. Priority in the approval process will be given to people who provide the name of the company or project they are currently involved in. All applications will be answered in a timely manner and an email notification will be send to you.


Legal Requirements

All approved Phoenix beta tester candidates should sign an NDA for the period of the program. The name of the company and contact information should also be included in the NDA. Additional agreement is required if a permission for commercial use is obtained from the Developers of the product.


Download and Installation Requirements

In order to obtain access to the application for the beta program as well as for the download section upon approval every person should be registered at the Chaos Group website. This registration will also provide you with an unlimited access to all our products demo versions, including V-Ray for 3ds Max, V-Ray for Maya, V-Ray RT and Pdplayer.

After registering at the website you have to submit your beta testing program application. Upon approval you will receive a notification email. This will automatically generate you an access to the download section of the Phoenix Fluid Dynamics. Now you can enjoy and be a part of the new fluid simulator that will be soon out at the market.

Feedback and Communication Channels

The Phoenix Fluid Dynamics Beta testing program will have its own forum on the Chaos Group website. Everyone who is approved and become a part of the program will gain access to the Phoenix forum and will be able to share opinion and exchange information with other interesting people from the industry. This is one of the ways you can submit bugs, requests for new features and share your works. Personal contact with the developers of the Phoenix is the other option to contribute to the further development of this product. All requests can be addressed to phoenix@chaosgroup.com
