PHOENIX FD 2.0 BETA PROGRAM
Phoenix FD now comes with foam, splashes and fluids simulation and enhanced GPU preview. All V-Ray for 3ds Max and Phoenix users are eligible to join the BETA PROGRAM.
The Phoenix beta program will run for a period of approximately 2 months, starting on July 15th, 2011.
New software license can be obtained under the condition that all materials produced with it will not be available for commercial use. On a further stage, under the special consideration of the Developers of the product this limitation can be obviated.
Beta Testers Evaluation Requirements
Everyone who obtains V-Ray for 3ds Max or Phoenix FD license despite of the version is eligible to join the beta program. If you have V-Ray for 3ds Max you can take advantage of the complete functionality of Phoenix FD.

In order to obtain access to the beta program you have to contact Chaos Group support team at email@example.com and request your Phoenix FD 2.0 license.
New features and fixes:
Foam / splashes particle shader - with phoenix FD 2.0 you can now enchase your liquid simulations with stunning visuals of foams and splashes
Lighting and diffuse color shading in the GPU preview - the GPU preview feature of Phoenix FD has been further improved with the capabilities of rendering actual lighting from the flames as well as rending the diffuse part of your simulations
Proper blending of all the Phoenix atmospheric shaders (sim-sim, sim-foam,foam-foam) - Phoenix FD 2.0 is fully capable of seamlessly blending all of its different atmospheric shaders
Geometry gizmo for both modes of rendering (atmosphere and solid) - this simple but powerful feature allows the user to render just a part of the simulation that falls within the boundaries of a specified geometry.
Flatter liquid surface - internal optimizations allow the simulation of better flat liquid surfaces
Colored transparency - the transparency parameter can now be used with a color value adding some tint to the standard transparency. This feature is similar to the fog color of the V-Ray material.
Memory optimizations - the architecture of the volumetric shader is now reorganized to consume less memory. The memory reduction ratio is about two for atmosphere mode and eight for solid mode.
Bucket like artifacts in analytic scattering+geometry
Problem with the explicit mapping (using the uvw channel)
Wrong time left prediction when the simulation is restored
Crash if reset is performed during a simulation
Motion blur problem fixed
The liquid can't be kept in vessels with classic advection + conservation different from smooth.
Feedback and Communication Channels
The Phoenix Fluid Dynamics Beta testing program has its own forum on the Chaos Group website. Everyone who is eligible and become a part of the program will gain access to the Phoenix forum and will be able to share opinion and exchange information with other people from the industry. This is one of the ways you can submit bugs, requests for new features and share your works.
