Customer Success Story :: Taylor James, UK

Interview with Glen Taylor, Siear Waizy and Dave Wortley

Tell us of any recent changes to your production workflow and how V-Ray has contributed to your success in 3D visualization?

We’ve been using RT in production to help us light and shade our scenes a lot quicker, it’s very useful for previs, getting the lighting to the exact angle, getting the reflections exactly where we need them, being able to sit down with clients and in real-time they can see the tweaks that they want us to make. Combining V-Ray RT with using the VRayPhysicalCamera we can use it to expose our images correctly to get the best lighting and get the most from our HDR lighting.

Customer Success Story :: Silestone and The Third and The Seventh projects

Interview with Alex Roman, CG Artist

You have always been connected to the art of visualization in one way or another. Would you tell us more about yourself?

I was born in 1979 in Alicante, Spain. After being trained in traditional painting at a few schools, I discovered the world called CG. After school, I moved to Madrid and began working for a visual effects company. That stint didn’t last too long due to the lack of demand for visual effects in the Spanish market at the time. It was then that I switched to the architectural visualization (VIZ) business. I worked for several companies before taking a sabbatical for a year to work on an “already built work” visualization series, which has now been stitched together into a short animated CG piece called “The Third & The Seventh.”

You studied media design in Hannover, Germany and now you work at a studio in L.A. Can you tell us how you got hired overseas?

In 2001 I graduated from the high school and went to a college to study media design. One day a class mate brought Cinema 4D and Maya to class installed in his notebook. From that moment on I didn't participated in the lessons much :). After the university in fall 2004 I looked for CG companies in Hannover and found SoulPix, a small and unconventional studio that uses 3D Studio Max (these days they switched to Cinema 4D).

Customer Success Story :: Platige Image

Interview with Kamil Pohl, Lighting & Rendering Artist

What attracted you to CG and why? Does it happen accidentally or it was a matter of conscious choice?
This started about 10 years ago. At that time I was interested mainly in Photoshop and in printing photos, sometimes I was making something in the field of vector graphics. This continued until once I saw a strange program on the display of an acquaintance of mine. There were no colours, no palette of colours or layers in it. Only lines crossing, mysterious windows with sliders and options... Everything looked very exotic. I was looking at the third version of 3d studio Max. Of course, I did not start immediately working with this kind of graphics. This passion has been becoming imminent for me for several years, spent in efforts to solve this program...
