Render.ru Contest "Mercenaries: Through Time and Worlds"

RENDER.RU is pleased to announce the start of its contest "Mercenaries: Through Time and Worlds."
The challenge will be open to everyone who wants to unleash their creativity and imagination - beginners and professionals. Images will be accepted in two categories: 2D and 3D. Contest sponsors are Adobe, NVIDIA, Chaos Group, Wacom, JC Group, RealTime, and the RENDER.RU training center. The prize fund is equivalent  to about 400 000 RUB.

CGChallenge XXVII: TEN

CGSociety has been celebrating their first ten years as the premier site for digital artists worldwide. As a major part of these celebrations, they have launched CGChallenge XXVII: TEN. The eagerly awaited competition will challenge computer graphic artists to include the number TEN into an image or video, whether literally or symbolically. The challenge will end 11 January, 2013.

CGSociety has gathered prizes from the biggest names in the digital art world. Because of these generous sponsors, they can offer a massive prize pool of over $140,000.

CGChallenge XXVII: TEN incredible sponsors include: NVIDIA, Autodesk, LightWave, WACOM, AMD, Side Effects, Pixologic, The Foundry / Luxology,CHAOSGROUP, RealFlow, Shutterstock, GNOMON School, Imagineer systems, IKinema, RenderLife, Xfrog, Evermotion, Think Kinetic, stash, 3dConnexion, Video CoPilot,Verold, Sketchfab, Ballistic, and CGWorkshops.

The theme can be broadly interpreted. For example: it could be a child counting to 10 for the first time; a play on words (tentacles, tenacious, tenant); the Ten commandments; ten minutes to save the world; remember when you were ten (imaginary friends, bullies, nightmares, dreams for the future); what happened ten years ago; or, perhaps the power of ten. It could be 2D or 3D, image or video, and produced on any software. Make it hilarious or make it epic, CGSociety just wants you to make sure it cleverly adds the number, idea, word or symbol of ten.

CGChallenge XXVII: TEN will be judged by some massive stars of digital art: DeHong He, Daniel Hornick, Steven Stahlberg, Pascal Blanche, Lorne Lanning, Krishnamurti Costa, Jeff Mottle, Christopher Sloan, Brom, Alex Morris, Alexander Preuss, Ziv Qual, Leigh van der Byl and Mark Snoswell.

RebusFarm Open 3D Award

Digital artists listen up! Show Rebus Farm your potential and upload your best 3D projects. Compete with the other entrants and face up your work to the 3D community and a professional jury.

From September 26th until November 15th you can upload your work and from November 16th until December 7th you can vote for your favorite projects.

CGSociety V-Ray Challenge Winners Announced

Chaos Group is pleased to announce the winners of the V-Ray Anniversary Challenge!

The First prize goes to Darko Vucenik (DarkoV) from Croatia who captured the realization of how dangerous drunken driving can be.

The Second prize winner is Gregory Krushenko (Gizoo) from Uzbekistan for his 'Air Dream'.

Third prize in the 'Decisive Moment' V-Ray Challenge goes to Toni Bratincevic (InTerceptoV) in the USA depicting his metaphor for peace.

V-Ray Anniversary Challenge: A Decisive Moment

Chaos Group marks the beginning of V-Ray’s 10th Anniversary celebrations with a Challenge to all V-Ray users! We invite you to create an image to tell the story of a decisive moment.

Imagine the split second when everything changes. It could be an instant from history that altered everything on Earth. Or a pivotal point in time that changed you personally. Perhaps a knockout punch in a heavy weight championship. The last block placed on the Pyramids. The first human step on the moon. A gunshot, a wrong step, or a glance, the decisive moment when fate propelled the world to greatness or drove it to the point of destruction.

Using any application to model and V-Ray to render, we want you to illustrate that blink-of-an-eye moment.

We’ve invited some of the most prominent CG artists and industry influencers to evaluate the submissions:

Winner Announced in SketchUp Ur Space Competition

We are happy to share that Gerbe Dumahil was selected among 34 participants as the winner of the SketchUp Ur Space competition. His state-of-the-art interior design is awarded with the Chaos Group prize – a V-Ray for SketchUp license.

SketchUp is a powerful 3D application. It gets even more powerful when used together with a rendering plug-in. There are quite a numerous number of available rendering engines for SketchUp but I choose V-Ray. V-Ray is for me, the best rendering engine. It gives me the quality that I want and the quality that the client needs.

3rd Architectural Visualization Challenge “CityLIFE”

Chaos Group invites you to sign up for Ronen Bekerman’s 3rd Architectural Visualization Challenge, exploring one of the most complex and vast subject matters in the architectural field, our urban way of living.

Chaos Group is pleased to support this event by providing licenses for V-Ray for 3ds Max, V-Ray for Rhino and V-Ray for SketchUp.

The challengers’ mission is to showcase CityLIFE in two different seasons – summer, autumn, winter or spring. Besides the Still Image category, there are also Real-Time and 2D Concept Art categories.

You are encouraged to think beyond the traditional or conventional interpretations and methods of architectural visualization, and while photo-realness is not the aim, it certainly might be a mean to an end.

Winners Announced in T-Splines Design Contest

The T-Splines 2011 Contest, Make the World a Better Place attracted over 80 entries from around the globe in the categories Architecture, Transit, Jewelry, Consumer Product, and Miscellaneous. We are proud to share that V-Ray was extensively used across the submissions, and most notably the three winning Jewelry pieces and the winning Miscellaneous piece.

This year, Chaos Group is providing the award in the Miscellaneous category. A V-Ray for Rhino license goes to Fernando Montalvo of Córdoba, Argentina for his futuristic Roboto 1.0 design.

We would like to thank T-Splines for organizing this contest and sharing design inspiration from all around the world. Congratulations go to all the participants who envisioned the world as a better place through their innovative 3D designs.

Make the world a better place- T-Splines Design Contest 2011

The T-Splines Design Contest 2011, Make the World a Better Place, is designed to promote the creation of new and innovative 3D designs using T-Splines for Rhino and tsElements for SolidWorks. All design entries should reflect the theme of the contest, demonstrating a potential to improve the world in some way.

Prizes will be awarded to those individuals or teams who submit the best designs, as measured by the judging criteria. V-Ray for Rhino full commercial license is included in the $15,000 prize list.
