is it possible to create and share a 3ds max scene (with interior and exterior lighting) to test our gpus?
so we could have a ranking, now that also ati gpus seem to work.
it would be easier to buy a gpu...

Yep, I will post one a bit later today.

Here you go: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/scenes/vr...h_interior.rar The scene is set to render 500 samples per pixel (actually it will do 512). The idea is to see how long it will take to achieve these 512 samples per pixel.

With the GeForce 295 and 260.99 drivers that I have on my machine now, it takes 8m 50s (see attachment).

I guess it can be used for benchmarking CPUs as well, by switching to the CPU engine.

[UPDATE] A .vrscene package is available here (includes textures): http://www.spot3d.com/vray/scenes/vr...ch_vrscene.rar

To run it with the GPU engine, pass the option -rtengine=3 to V-Ray Standalone.

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Can you put the numbers in the message too (e.g. 3m 25.9s) just in case the images get lost?

gpu 1 goes from 50% to 99% during rendering
gpu 2 is fixed at 99%
              it could be better

So you are right that the new drivers are slower, even with one GPU.

                  Some more tests:

                  Tesla C2050, 260.99 driver: 4m 53s
                  Tesla C2050, 258.96 driver: 4m 16s

                  2 x Tesla C2050, 260.99 driver: 2m 27s
                  2 x Tesla C2050, 258.96 driver: 2m 9s

                  GeForce GTX 480 + 2 x Tesla C2050, 260.99 driver: 1m 29s
                  GeForce GTX 480 + 2 x Tesla C2050, 258.96 driver: 1m 18s

                    258.96 driver
but now lowering ray bundle size to 128 and rays per pixel to 4 makes my gpus work 99%
                    so, little gain from 3m 25s to 3m 14s

0.5 x Radeon HD 5970 (only one GPU working), 10.12 driver: 18m 28s. This is an extrapolated result from 128 samples per pixel (4m 37s), didn't wait for all the 512 samples. If both the GPUs were working, the card would be slightly slower than the GeForce 295.

                      Best regards,

Not sure if the 5980 isn't better even though it's a single card. It would be interesting to see the 6000 series. It will have to wait a bit though, they don't have them here yet...

Although, I don't have any of the texture files. Did I miss that?
