Deconstructing LEGO and V-Ray at VFX expo

We’ve become a staple of distributor Bluegfx’s annual expo — and this year we’re bringing along an impressive lineup. Prime Focus World’s Sean Feeney will talk about bringing toys to life via V-Ray for fully CG TV show LEGO Chima. After the presentation, you can pitch questions to Prime Focus World’s Creative Head John Harvey.

Chaos Group’s CG specialist Atanas Tudzharov will also demonstrate the complex scenes Maya and V-Ray 3.6 for Maya are capable of creating, making use of optimized geometry, proxy objects, the denoiser and render elements. He’ll also delve into the untapped power of V-Ray RT GPU via a project by GPU expert Dabarti.

Meet Chaos Group and see the latest in V-Ray for Rhino at this essential event

Organized by V-Ray for Rhino UK partner Simply Rhino, the London Rhino User Group is a bi-annual gathering of users and fans of McNeel’s design and architecture software. Among the line-up are influential thinkers, Grasshopper wizards, parametric design innovators, and the developers of Rhino itself.

As a sponsor, Chaos Group will bring CG specialist Yavor Stoikov along to demonstrate V-Ray 3 for Rhino’s coolest new features, and show how V-Ray RT can work directly in Grasshopper. And we’re pleased to welcome special guest Harry Ibbs, Head of Digital Delivery and Workflow at Zaha Hadid Architects, along for an enticing presentation titled “Rhino V-Ray Hypothesis Workflow: What If?”

Creative Rooms: Moving Pixels
The fourth edition of this unique event for London’s VFX industry is the biggest yet.

Escape Technology’s Creative Rooms has always been a little different to other visual effects events. Twice a year, the reseller and technology services provider sets up a mini creative studio, so attendees can listen to talks, and mingle with other professionals.

This year the event takes place in a bigger venue (The Oui2 Rooms on Great Titchfield Street), and it includes presentations on everything from making the most of Maya, to how to start your own creative studio.

On October 26 at 4:00 p.m, Chaos Group is proud to present a talk from renowned architect and 3D artist Kim Baumann Larsen, who will discuss the tools and workflows which create mind-blowing virtual reality experiences.

BFX Festival
Annual visual effects, animation and games festival attracts a stellar line-up.

Now in its fifth year, the Bournemouth University’s BFX festival takes place from October 8 - 16. It’s an amazing chance to find out about cutting edge visual effects and animation in blockbuster movies and games. It also serves as a platform for the UK’s freshest talent, and as a way to entice potential artists into the amazing world of visual effects.

This year’s partners include Double Negative, Framestore, Moving Picture Company, The Mill, Cinesite, Creative Skillset, and BAFTA. Chaos Group is proud to be part of this illustrious line-up, and we’ve organized some unmissable presentations for the festival.

On October 10 at 4.30 pm Jeremy Smith, Jellyfish Picture’s chief technology officer, will discuss VFX production in the cloud. And, on October 13 at 3.00 pm we’ll host one of our legendary Chaos Group Educator’s Brunches, where educators can find out more about our new V-Ray for Maya training program. And, on October 13 at 5.30 pm, compositor Shahin Toosi will demonstrate his innovative approach to ray-tracing within V-Ray for NUKE.

At this year’s event, Chaos Group will focus on the release of V-Ray 3.0 for Rhinoceros. Matthew Newberg, lead developer of V-Ray for Rhino, will introduce the latest version of the groundbreaking software, discuss how it can be used with our VRscans technology, and demonstrate its compatibility with many platforms.

We’re also pleased to introduce Jorge Barrero and James Warton of HKS Architects, who will tell us about how additive manufacturing can be used to create complete buildings and facades. And we’ll take a step into virtual reality with Steffen Riegas and Mikolaj Bazaczek of Herzog & de Meuron, who will show how the medium can be used as an immersive tool for design.
