The ever popular V-Ray Day, hosted by Chaos Group in Mannheim Room, will feature exclusive insight into the latest projects from Scanline VFX, UNIT IMAGE and Dabarti Studio. In addition, we'll be recording a live edition of the legendary CG Garage podcast with special guest Vlado Koylazov, fresh from his recent trip to Hollywood to pick up an Academy Award for V-Ray.

SCANLINE VFX: The Pipeline Challenges of a VFX Facility

László Sebő, Senior Pipeline Engineer

Scanline VFX’s pipeline has changed drastically in the last five years, with work spanning multiple facilities around the world, numerous applications, and an asset based workflow used on films such as Independence Day: Resurgence. In his talk, László will discuss how the company’s scene description system works, and how geometry instancing allows the company to work with vast amounts of polygons.

Dorian will uncover the secrets to building environments that show worlds falling into chaos in full-3D, and to implementing V-Ray simply in your pipeline. This talk will be supported with recent award-winning projects created by UNIT IMAGE including the stunning For Honor trailer.

Vladimir "Vlado" Koylazov
Co-Founder, Chaos Group

Passionate about 3D graphics and programming, Vlado is the driving force behind Chaos Group’s software solutions. Vlado is an expert in rendering theory and an avid 3D community supporter and often participates in forum discussions to help users solve rendering challenges. Vlado was recently awarded a 2017 Sci-Tech Academy Award for V-Ray.

Chris Nichols
Director of Chaos Group Labs, Chaos Group Labs

Chris is a CG industry veteran and Director of Chaos Group Labs. He can also be heard regularly as the host of the CG Garage podcast which attracts 20,000 weekly listeners. With a background in both VFX and Design, Chris has worked for Gensler, Digital Domain, Imageworks and Method Studios. His credits include Maleficent, Oblivion and Tron: Legacy.

Tomasz Wyszolmirski
Studio Director, Dabarti Studio

Artist, CGI videographer and entrepreneur Tomasz Wyszołmirski founded Dabarti in 2009 with one aim: to build the industry’s biggest and best CGI stock portfolio. Today, Dabarti’s content includes almost 3,000 full-CGI videos and its clients comprise of companies such as Honda, Seat, and Milka. In his spare time, Tomasz develops pipeline tools and works on his blog.

László Sebő
Senior Pipeline Engineer, Scanline VFX

László has worked on some of the biggest blockbusters of the last 15 years, including Avatar, Where the Wild Things Are and Iron Man 3. He's always gravitated towards the technical side of VFX, from the development of the Meshtools modelling toolset for 3ds Max, to the deployment of efficient, high-bandwidth pipelines at effects houses such as Iloura and Scanline VFX.

Dorian Marchesin
Environment & Rendering Supervisor, UNIT IMAGE

Dorian started his career 9 years ago doing modeling in several French studios. He then joined UNIT IMAGE in 2011 and transitioned to environment setup. Today he supervises environment, rendering and compositing teams.

Yana Andreeva
CG Specialist, Chaos Group

Yana Andreeva is responsible for V-Ray presentation content and videos. She has a bachelor degree in Audiovisual Media from Stuttgart Media University and a masters in Digital Arts from the University of Applied Sciences, Upper Austria. Before she joined Chaos Group, she worked as a 3D artist on campaigns for Intel, Hugo Boss, Caterpillar and Red Bull.

Gerrit Corsmeyer
3D Artist, Qoobee

For more than 20 years, Gerrit has worked as a 3D Artist, a Chaos Group collaborator and a certified V-Ray Instructor.
