VFX company LUXX has taken its experience from films such as Independence Day: Resurgence and Grand Budapest Hotel into the world of production with animated feature Manou the Swift. Unexpected: Pushing the limits of Hololens — creating high quality visuals for MR.

15:00, Mannheim Room

Christian Arlt, Animation Director; Agon Ushaku, Head of CAD Management

Most of the apps that the unexpected GmbH team explored for the Microsoft HoloLens were very technical and had little-to-no demand for high quality visuals. They decided to find a solution. By pushing the limits with their own experimental app, they were able to develop a look that works on the device both in terms of performance as well as the visual particularities of the mixed-reality device. In this session, the team will reveal their experiences using 3ds Max, Unity, Substance and V-Ray to achieve the ultimate results.

Goodbye Kansas: Survivors, zombies & environments with V-Ray.

16:00, Mannheim Room

Daniel Bystedt, Senior Creature Artist

Daniel will showcase work from five cinematic game trailers created for Overkill's The Walking Dead. The talk will cover everything from visual development to final shots and how mixed sources were used to create rich environments and believable characters and performances. As Head of Modeling and Lead Character Artist Daniel can give a unique insight into how V-Ray helped Goodbye Kansas achieve award-winning quality for the trailers.

© Ambassadors
Ambassadors: Telling stories with pixels & plasticine — using V-Ray to handcraft characters & worlds.

17:00, Mannheim Room

Vincent Lammers, Creative Director & Partner; Ivor Ribeiro da Silva, CG Supervisor

Helping people connect with messages about financial and medical sustainability isn’t easy, but it can be made possible with close attention to crafting mini worlds and charismatic characters. In this talk, Vincent and Ivor will look at how recent animations for ASN Bank and Federal Office of Public Health were brought to life, why they love shooting with miniature sets so much, and how V-Ray techniques rendered with YellowDog can best blend the real and digital.
