Chaos Group tours Italy with a series of incredible, inspiring events

This year, Chaos Group’s acclaimed V-Ray Days land in Italy. From October 25 to November 5 we’ll tour Rome, Florence, Milan, Verona, and Venice to bring V-Ray users the latest in architecture, design, VFX, animation and games.

Our masterclasses will show you how to get the most from V-Ray, we’ll demonstrate the cutting-edge features of Chaos Group’s products, and guest speakers will give you behind-the-scenes guides to how they work.

V-RAY OPEN ARCHITECTURE MASTERCLASS

On October 25, we’ll kick off with the V-Ray Open Architecture Masterclass at Rome’s Quasar Design University. This 4-hour advanced training session will show you how to create amazing VR scenes within V-Ray 3.4 for 3ds Max.

V-RAY DAY ROME

Our first full V-Ray Day, in the fitting location of Rome’s spectacular La Sapienza university. We’ll guide you through V-Ray in architecture, design, VFX, animation and advertising. We’ll be joined by guest presenters Alessandro Cangelosi (Independence Day: Resurgence), Giacomo Dalle Vaglie (3DWS), Dimitar Dinev (3DWS), and Fabio Allamandri (Treddi.com).

V-RAY DAY FLORENCE

On October 31, we’ll head north to Florence for V-Ray Day Florence. In the morning we’ll guide you through V-Ray in architecture and design, while the afternoon will be dedicated to VFX, animation and advertising.

V-RAY DAY MILAN

November 2, 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Scuola Politecnica di Design, Via Carlo Bo 7, 20143 Milano

On November 2 we’ll be in Milan. The schedule for these V-Ray days will be the same as Rome’s but we’ll welcome different guest speakers. Automotive artist Ivan Basso (Maserati, Fiat, Alfa Romeo) and Tax Free Film’s digital director and art director Franco Tassi are both confirmed for the Milan event.

The penultimate stop on our V-Ray Days tour will be Verona’s Side Academy on November 3, where we’ll discuss V-Ray for VFX, animation, advertising, and game cinematics. Stefano Siganakis, 3D artist at Side Academy, will join us for a guest presentation.

Yana Andreeva
CG Specialist, Chaos Group

Yana Andreeva joined Chaos Group in 2013, and she’s responsible for all V-Ray presentation content and videos. She has a bachelor degree in Audiovisual Media from Stuttgart Media University, and a Masters in Digital Arts from the University of Applied Sciences, Upper Austria. Before joining Chaos Group, she worked as a 3D artist on campaigns for Intel, Hugo Boss, Porsche, Caterpillar and Red Bull.

Giacomo Dalle Vaglie
3D Expert, Co-Founder 3DWS

Giacomo entered the professional CG/3D market in 2002. Since 2005 he has been responsible for the 3D Software Department in 3DWS and one of the founders of Digital Drawing Days, along with Dimitar Dinev and the team of Treddi.com. He has worked on a variety of projects as Lead 3D Artist for clients like Prada SpA, Lago SpA, Luisa Spagnoli SpA.

Dimitar Dinev
Founder/CEO, 3DWS | Founder, DDD

Dimitar has a solid background in IT and 3D, starting back in 1992. In 2001 he founded in Italy his first company dedicated to CG solutions, which in 2005 became 3DWS - one of the key partners of Chaos Group and many high-end software and hardware companies in Italy. In 2010 he started Digital Drawing Days and moved on to establish it as a leading event for showcasing leading CG work and cutting-edge solutions in CG software and hardware. Nowadays Dimitar continues managing 3DWS as a direct partner to Chaos Group, Autodesk, McNeel and others, and a leader in Italy’s professional CG market.

Emanuele Lecchi
Workflow Designer, Chaos Group R&D Team

Emanuele Lecchi studied Chemistry, then Philosophy, and in the meantime became authorized to sell, train in and support 3D Studio Max v.1.
He worked for a number of TV and film productions in Germany, the UK and Canada and received several awards for his achievements. Then Emanuele focused on researching ways to replicate real materials in CG and still finds it a source of daily wonder.
In 2014 Emanuele was brought to the Chaos Group’s core R&D team by Vladimir ‘Vlado’ Koylazov and obtains a position, which he calls Trouble Stirrer. His tasks vary a lot and range from taking pictures, to trying to get ideas about solving problems, passing through testing, user support, UIs and concepts prototyping, scripting, and the odd shading and lighting too.

Ivan Basso
3D Photographer, ivanbasso.com

Ivan Basso is a 3D photographer based in Milan. In 1997, he began to work as a CGI artist and 3D animator, collaborating with leading creative agencies and post-production crews, and has contributed with his creative passion and great attention to detail to many successful projects. As a virtual automotive photographer he has created images for use in advertising campaigns, catalogues and press conferences for the most important Italian automotive brands, providing a complete high-end service from CAD data acquisition to final digital retouching. Currently Ivan Basso is one of the resident speakers of Digital Drawing Days. His works have been published at the galleries of Chaos Group, V-RAY CLUB, PRODUCTION PARADISE etc.

Alessandro Cangelosi
CG Supervisor, Why Worry Production

A strong passion for technology, science and art, movies like "Terminator 2", and the hours, days, years of studying techniques to replicate special effects, have led Alessandro from software development to VFX. He moved very quickly through generalist positions in small productions up to the most important roles as a Lighting TD / FX TD of commercials, video game cinematics and movies, to become CG Supervisor for Why Worry production. Among the productions he worked on we can mention "2012", "Independence Day 2", "Prince of Persia: The forgotten sands", "Dead Rising 3", "Ghostbusters: The Videogame", "Romeo & Juliet", "Wolfstein: The New Order".

Gianpiero Monopoli
Director, SOA Academy

The passion for architecture and computer graphics took Gianpiero to look for new ways to represent through images designers and architects’ ideas. After some work experiences in Italy, in 2007 he started working as Project Lead Artist for the well-known English Studio Hayes Davidson. There, he created images for Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Kohn Pedersen Fox, John Pawson, David Chipperfield, Hamiltons Architects and West8. In 2009, together with Roberto and Manuela, he set up State of Art and became Managing Director.
Gianpiero is V-Ray Certified Professional since 2005 and V-Ray Licensed Instructor since 2012. He teaches at SOA Academy, the Educational Department of SOA, where he leads the Research and Development Department of the company.
He is also the curator of the Academy Day, the international event organized every year for the arch-viz industry in Venice (Italy).

Stefano Siganakis
3D Artist, Side Academy

With more than 15 years of experience in the CGI industry, Stefano has specialized in arch-viz, working with several architectural and engineering firms implementing public works and projects of national importance. He moved his focus to the ceramics sector, working first with advertising agencies and then directly with leading global companies and top luxury brands in the world of design and mosaic, among them Bisazza S.p.A. Stefano’s passion for the world of CGI eventually led him to expand his activities to the field of training and 3D animation.

Alessandro Cannavà
Senior 3D Artist, Venini

Alessandro Cannavà was born in 1989. He graduated in Architecture in 2012 from the IUAV in Venice. Since his student days he specialized in Computer Graphics and implementation of Concept Art – his passion and profound interest. He began his career in Germany in architectural visualization, working with Form 3D and Pixomondo. Presently he is a Senior 3D Artist at Venini, the historical artistic Venetian glass furnace.
