What are your license delivery methods?
The delivery of the licenses depends on the licensing system you prefer - dongle (license is contained on a special USB) or online licensing (using our Online Licensing Server).
Please note that in both cases you will be required to have an activated Chaos Group account and an installed license server on your machine.
- If you use Online Licensing:
Online Licensing System is a secure way to license our products online without the need for a physical USB dongle - it is supported licensing option for V-Ray 3.x, Phoenix FD 3.x products and above, as well as Vrscans and PDPlayer licenses. Upon issuing your purchased license, we will send you a welcome email with instructions on how to activate your Chaos Group account and online license. You will be able to download the appropriate build of the product and the license server needed to authenticate your license.
Online licensing requires a stable, uninterrupted internet connection. However, it is possible to “borrow” licenses and use them completely offline, but only for a maximum of 14 days. Once the borrowed time expires, you can re-borrow the same licenses again.
- If you use Dongle Licensing:
Traditional dongle licensing is based on a hardware (USB) dongle that is plugged into an end user's system or on a machine that acts as a license server for all systems on the network. The dongle is a special USB key that holds your unique V-Ray license file. The dongle does not depend on internet connection which is useful if you travel to places with no internet. There are additional costs for obtaining a dongle - your preferred local V-Ray reseller will assist you with the purchasing and delivery process. For details on how the licenses are enabled on your dongle, please read here.
